I had never given San Francisco chiropractors a second thought even though I was in a lot of pain. The only reason why was because I was uneducated about the scope of their expertise. My arm is what was hurting me, so I went to an orthopedic doctor. I had broken it when I was younger, and then I fractured it again about a year ago. The doctor told me that physical therapy would help me, but I did not see a lot of success with it. He had taken X-rays to make sure there was not a break, which there wasn’t.
He basically told me that I would have to wait it out, which I did for months. He did give me a shot every couple of months when the pain became too much, and even he started to become concerned when I was still seeing him eight months later. He did some research, and that is when he suggested that I visit a chiropractor. I thought he was just passing the buck until he explained his reasoning to me. It could actually be because of a misaligned spine that I was having so much pain in that area, and that is an area where a chiropractor is the best resource to use.
He did tell me that he has never referred a patient to a chiropractor before, but then again, no patients had ever been through medications and therapy and came out feeling the same, like me. I went to the chiropractor, and he had me feeling so much better within the first month. I am so happy my orthopedist wanted me to do this, because I was starting to feel pretty dismayed that my life looked like it would always be filled with pain. When I told my orthopedist, he was happy both for me and for his other patients who might benefit from this too.
